A modern oak blanket chest with baroque-styled carvings. The clients in this case are my parents, who commissioned it as an heirloom piece with the intent of one day passing it down to my son. I ended up surprising them with it for Christmas instead of taking their money.
A major part of this project is that it was largely made with hand tools that were passed down to me from my great grandfather through three generations. The tools are nearly a century old. I restored them and used them extensively on this chest, which felt important to do for this heirloom piece.
The Latin on the inside of the till means, “I will always love you.”
