Historical Handcrafts

NOTE: (April 22) My commissions queue is currently full, so I’m temporarily not accepting new commissions at the moment. Thank you to everyone who’s done business with me since I started! I genuinely never expected to go down this avenue of life, and I certainly never expected to have any kind of success doing it. That success is purely thanks to all of you who’ve done me the honor of paying me to make things for you! I’ll post when I’m ready to take commissions again. In the meantime, I’ll keep posting pictures of what I’m working on.

Decorative toolwork, cases and more.

Boxes, furniture, and wood carving.

Other Art

Painting, flags, miscellaneous.

About Me

My name is Bill Grandy, and I’m in love with history. Not just dates and facts, but the cultures and art of the past. Professionally, I am the Director of Historical Swordsmanship at the Virginia Academy of Fencing, where I recreate the martial arts passed on from medieval and Renaissance manuscripts. On the side, I create art and objects, usually inspired by the past, and with a particular interest in martial culture. I am also a collector of arms and armor, both antique and modern reproductions, and this passion influences my art.
