This garter is meant to be worn just below the knee, as was done in the late medieval style. The client who commissioned it is part of a HEMA school that uses garter belts to denote rank, so this will be worn while fencing, and therefore is made of a thick leather for durability. I tooled and painted the leaf pattern, and also made the brass buckle plate. I engraved it with the school’s motto, “Ferrum non Verbum” (Iron, not word).
